 Imperative for well-rounded site security and overcoming the shortfalls of ridged video surveillance system coverage, ioimage autonomous PTZ tracking provides self-directed vision-guided tracking of a moving object. With the automatic acquiring capabilities, the target is kept in sight and in focus, providing numerous identification and information gathering possibilities. This is performed by automatic commanding of the mechanical pan, tilt, and zoom of a PTZ security camera as needed to assure constant visual surveillance of a target.

Freeing security guards and personnel from manually operating a PTZ joystick, automated tracking can be implemented in several ways including selection of a moving object via monitor software, intrusion detection on PTZ camera presets (also known as PTZ step-and-stare detection) or from a stationary camera detection that is handed off.
With intrusion detection and PTZ tracking, a single PTZ camera provides wide-area coverage by independently detecting on preset scenes while they are being viewed. If an intruder is detected during the in-sequence viewing of a preset, the PTZ automatically zooms in and maintains constant visual of the moving intruder.
The included PTZ synchronization hand-off feature provides more than a simple jump-to-preset; it translates one camera’s scene to the other, allowing the PTZ camera to acquire a specific object location from among multiple objects ─ wherever it is. Thus, the object doesn’t need to be located in a predefined preset nor does the tracking require the directive assistance of a second camera or triangulating sensors.
A crucial solution to the immanent problem of intruders moving out of stationary surveillance views, PTZ tracking is not reliant on the presence of security personnel at the security console when the alarm is triggered. Automatically initiated by an alarm event, it independently tracks and visually relays a moving target's location, instead of having security staff respond blindly to the first detected location.
- Typical stationary cameras are limited to reporting only what is visible in their field of view. From point 1 to 2 there is information. From point 2 and beyond, security becomes uniformed and has no recorded account of an intruder's actions. Additionally the stationary cameras are limited in their ability to capture magnified images of the intruder's face or vehicle.
- With the xptz100dn automation, it can either detect on its own or can accept a handoff of detected events from stationary cameras. Thus, automatically following the intruder from point 1 to 2 to 3 and beyond. Security has up-to-the minute location and can see what the intruder is doing. This is important for scene safety, avoidance of concealed-traps and for recording of information that may be vital in decision making or prosecution. Because the xptz100dn autonomously zooms in and follows a person or vehicle intrusion, obtaining important details such as facial identification, vehicle numbers, or armaments is automatically achieved - even if security personnel are away from their post.
